How to publish an interactive story online

Publishing an interactive story online is more than uploading a file. Readers need a clear title, a useful cover, a route that works from the first click, and a link that opens without a setup tutorial. Start by treating the published page as the reader's first scene.
1. Prepare the story page
Write a title that says what the story is about, then add a short description that names the genre, the player's role, and the decision at the center. Use a cover that still reads at a small size. These details help readers decide whether to play and give search engines useful context.
2. Test every route before sharing
- Start from the opening link in a private browser window.
- Play every meaningful choice and confirm that each route reaches an intentional scene or ending.
- Check text, images, audio, and choice labels on a phone-sized viewport.
- Ask a new reader what they thought their choice would change.
3. Choose the right visibility
Use a public link when you want discovery and community feedback. Keep a draft private while you are still changing the structure. Use an unlisted link for focused testing when you do not want the work in public listings, and remember that an unlisted link can still be forwarded.
Pominis lets you move from a browser draft to a shareable web story in the same workflow. Publish only after the first route communicates the premise and the last route gives the player a reason to finish.
Try one scene of your own
Choose a story prompt or bring your own premise. Build a short draft, play both routes, and revise the choice that needs work.
